KALDBAKUR

Embark on an extended adventure along the same route as our shorter standard trip, but with longer paths, more mountains and more time to explore each location. This 3-hour excursion allows for a deeper immersion in the beautiful and diverse landscapes of Dýrafjörður. Starting at the WWR headquarters on Hafnarstræti 24, we traverse through the village, ascend Brekkuháls, and venture into the slopes of the mountain Sandafell. Continuing along the forest trail behind Sandafell, we descend towards the enchanting Sandá river, crossing it multiple times. Carry on into the valley of Kirkjuból, up the crossing of Kvennaskarð towards Arnarfjörður where from there is only a short hike to the top of Kaldbakur (998m), the highest mountain of the Westfjords. We then return over hills and heights, concluding the journey back in the village.

This tour offers a great taste of the stunning scenery and thrilling off-road experience Dýrafjörður has to offer. It also gives the opportunity of a hike to the top of Kaldbakur. The hike is an indipendent possibility for participants on this tour, without any parttaking, planning or responsibility of Wild West Rocky. The ATV guide waits by the quads if participants want to exploid this option. For this options waiting time is required and nessecary to select that in the buying process. The hike  in total from Kvennaskarð to the top of Kaldbakur takes 2-3 hours.
